Just outside the Shoreview Community Center in a large park known Shoreview Commons is Shoreview’s newest destination playground. Its soaring treehouse-like design has outdoor fun covered for all ages and encourages kids to keep active. At a glance, the destination playground includes features such as:
- A climbing forest area with multiple climbing activities for various skill levels.
- A double treehouse tower perfect for playing fort.
- The 50-foot zip line has an accessible seat.
- A cargo net climber
- Tunnels between towers and on the ground for smaller kids.
- Baby swings have been added to the playground, making it more baby-friendly.
- Outdoor restrooms, so no need to travel into the community center.

More playgrounds at Shoreview Commons Park
Beyond the centerpiece destination playground, there’s a lot going on at the expansive Shoreview Commons. If your kids need a break from the bustling main play space there are two other smaller playgrounds in the park that appeared, on our visit, to attract fewer visitors. One of these, the Mound Avenue Playground, is perfect for younger kids who would prefer a less stimulating environment. It is located on Mound Avenue between Larson Road & Kevin Lane next to the pickleball courts and is a decent hike from the destination playground. The other space is the original playground off Victoria Street North. It’s about a five minute walk from the new destination playground.
Birthday parties at Shoreview Commons
Want to celebrate a birthday at Shoreview’s Destination Playground? It’s important to know that the park shelter here is not available for rental and birthday parties are not allowed. Instead, the Mound Avenue playground (pictured above) has a small shelter with four tables available to rent.
More family fun at Shoreview Commons
Shoreview Commons offers green space for running around and free play, a skate park, a challenge course and a duck pond next to the Shoreview Community Center with walking trails looped around it. There are multiple picnic shelter areas and grills for cooking out.Â
